RESEARCHING YOUR OWN LODGING

If you are adventurous and want to look for a deal on line I strongly suggest that you avoid anything in the Trinity Lane/I 65 area or across the river from downtown such as on Woodland, Main, Gallatin road or Dickerson Pike.  

There are many hotels downtown and in the Music Row area which are safe areas with lots of restaurants and clubs nearby.

Brentwood is a very safe suburban area about 20 minutes from the Bluebird with lots of shopping and restaurants and there seem to be a lot of good deals there.

The airport is less than 15 minutes from Music Row, downtown or the Grand Old Opry and the area is generally safe.

HOTELS
Prices are approximate and vary widely by the date and which nights of the week you are booking.

Walking distance to the Bluebird Cafe:
Hampton Inn, 615-777-0001. Rooms run about $140 or $180 for a suite. Ask for senior discount if you’re over 50.

West End area
Holiday Inn Express Vanderbilt - (615) 327-4707 or Toll Free at (877) 327-4707. This is a nice hotel that houses the Commodore Lounge where you'll find a writers night seven nights week. The Commodore is one of the best places in town to meet other songwriters and hear everything from newcomers to hitmakers.

Hotel Indigo  615-329-4200 -  It's a pricey boutique hotel with great writers nights in the lounge several nights a week..
 
I 65 at Old Hickory in Brentwood
Studio Plus (615) 373-4272 - about $50/night for single occupancy - includes a kitchen with full sized refrigerator and 4 burner stove, one time fee of $5 for wireless internet

White Bridge Road at I 40
Comfort Inn on Whitebridge Rd, (a 10 or 15 minute drive from the Music Row ) 615-356-0888 Several people I know have stayed there and found it just fine and not too expensive.

Music Row Area
About 15 minutes from the airport or the Bluebird Cafe if traffic is not too heavy.

Hilton Garden Inn, (615) 369-5900 – new and very nice – around $160/night – $135 if you pay in advance non-refundable

Comfort Inn, (615) 255-9977 - runs about $105/night

Best Western on Division, (615) 242-1631 - about $120 - ask for the AAA rate even if you're not a member 

 
OPTIONS OTHER THAN HOTELS
 
Scarrit-Bennet Conference Center, (615) 340-7500 - right on Music Row on a beautiful, tree-filled campus.. They have a dormitory where each room has a twin bed and shares a bath with another room - they put like genders sharing the bathroom. Their rates usually run about $45/night.  Their number is (615) 340-7500.

Hit Song Casa - local real estate agent named Joyce Medlock has several condos where she rents out rooms to songwriters. There are pictures at www.joycemedlock.com . The Writers Room - Holly and Brian Cumming rent rooms in their home to visiting songwriters. They are about 15 minutes from the Bluebird. You can use the common areas including kitchen and laundry and you won't find nicer people anywhere. Brian's excallent demo studio, Studio 23, is also located there.

Rand Bishop's House - Lots of extras at a low prices - rooms for writing, instrument rentals, a Pro Tools studio, and you even get 10 minutes a day of free coaching from Rand who penned the Toby Keith hit, "My List."
