Chris Oglesby
Oglesby Writer Management

In his 20-plus years in publishing, Chris has worked with some of the giants in the industry. He learned the ropes at Almo-Irving from David Conrad, widely revered as one of Nashville's top "song men" who attracted talents like Kent Robbins and Mike Reid to the company. While he was there it took Chris three tries but he finally convinced his boss to let him sign a new writer named Craig Wiseman who went on to become ASCAP Songwriter of the Year three times with songs like "Live Like You Were Dying" and "Just Another Day In Paradise."

From there he teamed up with Bob Doyle (Garth Brook's manager) and Kye Fleming (3-time BMI Writer of the Year) to launch Dreamcatcher Music with a handful of songs and 2 writers in their first staff-writing deals. During his 18 month tenure there, Chris scored 18 cuts and 3 singles including Pam Tillis's "Mi Vida Loca."

From there he began a 10 year run at BMG where he worked with notable songwriters like Marcus Hummon, Hugh Prestwood, John Hiatt, Keith Follese, Rick Giles and Steven Dale Jones, to name a few, and signed emerging superstar talent like David Lee and Barry Dean. Chris was responsible for and a part of such hit songs as; “Prayin’ For Daylight”, Rascal Flatts; “Check Yes or No”, George Strait; “Young”, Kenny Chesney; “Born To Fly”, Sara Evans; “Amazed”, Lone Star; “19 Something”, Mark Wills; “The Good Stuff”, Kenny Chesney; “Live Like You Were Dying”, Tim McGraw, and  “God’s Will," Martina McBride.

He set out on his own in April 2004 to work with the people he loves most – the songwriters. Oglesby Writer Management began as a joint venture with music industry powerhouse 19 Entertainment that produces American Idol. As an advocated for the writers he represents he has been able to land deals for newcomers, give added support to established writers and secure cowrites with idol winners like Carrie Underwood.

In 2010 his company became independent and, although he still works closely with 19 Entertainment, he has the freedom to work with developing writers and pursue the projects that excite him.
