One of the best things I ever did to advance as a songwriter. I would highly recommend this workshop to anyone who is serious about writing for the Nashville commercial country market. Not only will you hear professional critiques of dozens of songs, you will meet many other writers who are at your level. I met some of my best friends and most talented co-writers at this workshop. In addition, you are playing your songs for some of the most influential people in the industry - all of whom respect Barbara immensely. I will always be grateful to Barbara for accepting me into this program!

Barbara's workshop is incredible! I'm sixteen and this was my first trip to Nashville. The workshop proved to be a great introduction into the country music scene. The environment is so positive and everyone is genuinely supportive . I learned so much and made many valuable contacts. One of the publishers even arranged a cowrite for me and one of the amazing writers she employs. I've written with and have stayed in contact with people I met in the workshop and have learned so much from all of their experience and knowledge of Nashville. Barbara is so giving of her time and resources and supports each writer sincerely. I loved the workshop, I hope you do too!:)

I audited Barbara's workshop in Oct 2010. Because of a song one of my co-writers submitted, I now have an open door at two major publishers on The Row. Also made some great new friend's and gained a couple more incredible co-writers. It's an awesome workshop that can open your mind as well as some doors!!!

I had the wonderful opportunity to attend Barbara's workshop twice. It changed my entire outlook on writing and pushed me in the right direction. I met so many awesome people and still hang out and write with quite a few of them. Actually when I think of it, 6 out of the 10 songs on my record are cowrites with some great writers I met as a result of attending this workshop. Thanks Barbara!!!

I've done four Play For Publishers. Each time....doors have opened, friends have been made, and better songs got written in the aftermath.

Anyone on the fence about this opportunity shouldn't be. Since attending My songwriting has increased ten fold, which in turn has made me a much better performer, singer, and all around musician. Not to mention the opportunity from unhindered feedback from the people that truly know the business and art of songwriting. Barbara is flat out good people and one of the most accessible and honest treasures that Nashville and music have to offer. To all those who shared the classes with me, I hope this finds you well. To all those going this year, stand by for a great experience.

AMAZING opportunity! Besides the concentrated wealth of knowledge Barbara and the publishers share with you, the friends and connections you make can last a lifetime. I was able to make one of these a few years ago and look forward to the next chance to make it happen! Whether your song is chosen or you just audit the class, count this as one of the "don't miss" Nashville offerings.

I've attended a number of the conferences.  They helped build my confidence and helped me make the transition as I moved from NYC to Nashville.  I met terrific writers I'm still in touch with, and established the basis for relationships with several publishers.

Barbara's workshop is a great place to learn more about the craft of songwriting.  It is also a great place to network with other writers, publishers, and industry types.  My songs (some co-written with other Barbara guests) have recieved more attention in Nashville since participating in a couple of Barbara's workshops than ever before.  Luck????  Join up and "you be the judge!"

I appreciate the chance to be part of your songwriting workshop last Spring. I was encouraged and challenged by both you (and the panels) to really think about what my lyrics were saying and how I was saying it. I also like meeting and networking with the other participants from all over the world. As a result of applying your principles I have had a song placed in a major movie, network TV show and a hold by a major country artist on one of my songs all this year.  Your workshop was an honest creative process resulting in a unifying and emotionally rewarding "product."

In February this year (2010) I had the opportunityto be a part of Barbara Cloyd's "Play for Publishers". I was in the process of moving to Nashville and it proved to be a pivotal step in my move and career. Two weeks after I played for publishers at The Bluebird, I was asked by one of the publishers for more of my songs. Since then, an invaluable relationship has developed and that publisher has even been setting up some of my appointments with other established writers. I would recommend Barbara Cloyd's "Play for Publisher" workshops to anyone who is serious about a career in songwriting and performing-It will get YOU on the fast track to a serious career as a songwriter!

To anyone thinking of attending Barbara's workshop - DO IT!  I had an amazing experience.  If you want to learn about how to write for Nashville, this is a wonderful way to do it.  And the best surprise was that Barbara really cares about the people she picks for this workshop - if you're in, she sees something in your writing that she thinks could really work for the market.  Then she offers REAL advice, and wants to see you succeed.  I hope to do it again when I have a new batch of songs to offer.

some tourists burst into the blue bird where we were doing the work shop-- we all stopped talking and this one lady said "oh..this is just some hole in the wall tourist trap" and they turned straight around-- everyone burst out laughing--- i am nj born and bred..i was brought up on springsteen and willie nile but i never thought i would feel so close to hank williams then at that moment-- i felt like a song writer there among colleagues in the heart of the songwriting belt.. and it was that lady who just didn't get it... we were working on one of the truest creative forms unique to american art-- the country song
